An infamous transit hotel brand is no longer an airport hotel in this South Indian city by the beach. An energetic lobby bursting with social character is tastefully juxtaposed with a healthy collection of wine bottles.
The Hotel Novotel – Vizag, has interiors in dark wood and squashy leather couches. Rooms that overlook the beach boast of a sumptuous bathtub which also offers a view of the sea. The designers outdid themselves.
Transformation
Being achingly chic, this is a place to see or be seen at. The hotel’s seasonal events attract the city’s crowds which are attended by A-list celebrities and socialites in the city.

Signature dishes
The Square, a restaurant here, offers casual breakfast every morning ranging from South Indian to continental cuisines. Pan-Asian (mostly Chinese); and refined brews at Vue and Infinity bars are a must try.

Chef’s local picks
A leap from being a chef to a foodie takes him to SaiRam Parlour for breakfast and to Daspalla for South Indian meals. Tangy ‘chaat’ at Sweet India and Amritsari kulcha (flat bread) at Ladoo Gopal are his favourite snacks.
