Are you a jeans-stereotype?

It’s mid 2018 and if you still fall prey to a 90’s fashion rut and are out of ideas, save jeans; how do you avoid dissolving in the crowd?

So it’s no surprise to see every other person in India trying to rock the jeans and kurta look.

With several international labels and boutiques materialising in the city, it’s incredibly easy to upgrade your style, at least in leg wear.

Forgo the denim trend this season with these five cooler alternatives…

 Breezy Palazzos

It seems every brand has a stock of this simple and chic piece in colourful floral prints from the house of Global Desi, And, Bombay Paisley and Vero Moda.

For ethnic patterns look for pallazos from Westside, Biba, Fab India, W and many more. For such a comfortable piece, Palazzos come in handy for office appropriate fashion too.

Skirting Jeans Away

Weather knee-grazing or long and flowing, when the weather gets too hot, skirts come in several lengths and colour palettes which replace the suffocation of denim or even pants.

These versatile pieces are beloved and worn by the likes of Jhanvi Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty who immortalized the combination of a long flowing Manish Malhotra skirt and a short buttoned blouse.

Bring out the Joggers

Move on from overdressed looks and go back to basics. Pair joggers with short kurtas or blouses for a delightfully feminine character or get casual with tees and tank tops on jogger pants for a sportier look.

Channel your inner Malika Arora Khan (often seen in chic joggers and sports bras) and opt for monochrome colours with a no-makeup look.

Power Dressing in Patialas

Gravitate towards comfort as a trend because of the relative freedom these unstructured silhouettes provide.Patiala-Shalwar-with-TeesGrab one for traditional and beyond and relish in silk and woollen embroidery embellished on the flare. If this is not power dressing in fashion, then I don’t know what is?

Desi Swag with Dhotis

Going out for lunch or just stopping over for coffee? Don Dhoti or Harem Pants which come in a full panoply of colours that choosing just one seems unimaginative.

Pair a cropped top with Afghan jewelry and this would look right at home in Sonam Kapoor’s wardrobe.
